Three men have been sentenced to seven years in jail for kidnapping and raping a Sudanese woman.
The men posed as police officers, Dubai Court of First Instance heard.
Two of the defendants, both Emirati, were charged with kidnapping the 28-year-old victim, while one, as well as another Palestinian defendant, were charged with rape.
According to police records, the woman was returning to her home in the Muraqabat area of Dubai when two men stopped her. They took her to the desert and one of them raped her. The third defendant arrived and also raped her. The men then threatened to kill her if she informed the police.
A fourth man was found guilty of obstructing the police investigation. He was fined dhs1,000.
The men have appealed.

Ditto; did you really have to mention that in some cultures a raped woman has no chance to be married again? what don't you stick to the subject? and which culture might that be? I feel sorry for the woman and those who did it definitely deserve more than 7 years in jail!! but my question is: when the woman was stopped in Mraqabat BUSY street why she did not refuse to go with these guys? why she did not screem in the car when they were taking her into the desert? unless they drugged her she should have made a scene and be very loud seeking for help. am sure that someone would have interfered. I hope she recovers soon and again sue those maniacs!!

Posted by: Jade [08.Feb.09 10 : 20 AM]Rapists should be given life in jail !!!!!! 7 years is a slap on the wrist for the torment, horror , pain and psychological scars this woman has suffered. If she is a single woman, they have probably also ruined her chances for marriage since certain cultures believe that a woman is unsuitable for marriage after being raped. If she is already married then they've ruined her marriage as well. They are sick monsters and should be locked up for life. Society will be better off without them...
