There are still jobs to be found despite the global economic recession, a recruitment consultancy has said. And the firm, Bayt.com, is currently helping people who have lost their jobs - and handing out free biryani. It said engineers, doctors and people from various other fields are turning up for the free advice sessions.
“Jobs are still available in the market. Some companies are laying off their workers, but at the same time they are also recruiting people. People should not get disheartened when they lose their jobs,” said Lama Ataya, the head of marketing and corporate communications at the firm. “A number of people are turning up for the free consultations. Some have lost their jobs after two years while others have more than 20 years’ experience,” she added.
Rabea Ataya, CEO of bayt.com, explained the reasons behind the community outreach endeavour. He said: “We all have an obligation to the communities we live in and I see no more valuable programme than one that capitalises on what we do best; with a free and simple service that will be useful for these jobseekers well into the future.” The free consultations are being offered until February 26 for two hours daily between 12 to 2pm. At least 100 people are attending every day. However the company can only accommodate 75 people a day.
“There has been a heavy rush ever since we started this service a week ago. People stand in long queues even before we begin our work,” Ataya said. The free lunch is being served in the amphitheatre in Dubai Internet City with the support of Biryani Express.

Not surprise by this as lot of employees have high expectations at such times. I know a small company recruiting for sales who offered dhs 4,000 plus commission on sales plus transport allowance and the indian girl said she had to think about it. Suffice to say someone else got the job and she called the next day to say yes - it was too late.

Forgot to mention - just as we have been saying to Real Estate Agent etc to get real and face reality same applies to job seekers in time of mass unemployment and credit crunch. If beggars want to be choosers well stop crying foul.
