Murder reward

The husband of a woman murdered outside a Dubai shopping mall has offered a dhs50,000 reward to help catch her killer.

Mauritius-born mother-of-two Dominique Van Der Lienden was found stabbed to death in her car outside Ibn Battuta Mall on Friday, February 27, by her husband Robert.

“Some days it comes back to me, finding my wife stabbed in her car. I hope nobody will ever meet the day when this most terrible thing happens to them, but I have to deal with it,” Robert said.

“My wife was killed in broad daylight. We believe that someone must know something that can help catch the killer,” he added.

Robert, who is Dutch, spoke to 7DAYS before emigrating back to the Netherlands with the couple’s two children on Monday night.

He said: “My wife was brutally murdered and she left behind two beautiful kids. My life has been devastated. I want justice.

“We lost a beautiful mother, daughter and sister and we don’t know who did this terrible crime.”

He asked that 7DAYS not publish details of the reward until he and his children had returned to the Netherlands. “I want to highlight the reward but I don’t want them to see reminders of that terrible day.

“My children are doing alright now and there is no point in bringing it back up,” he said.

Robert has set up an email add-ress justicefordom@yahoo.com, for witnesses or anyone who knows anything to pass on information to help catch the killer. People can also text him on 050 708 2015.

Robert is especially interested in hearing from people who were in the car park outside the mall’s Paris Gallery store around midday on the day of the killing.

Dominique had gone to the Fitness First gym and was due to meet with a friend in Debenhams in the mall. However, she failed to call her friend, who then contacted Robert.

He went to the mall and found her body in her car.

A police spokesperson confirmed that nobody has been charged with the murder and that the investigation is ongoing.
