An eyewitness has told how she saw a man being beaten for several minutes outside a nightclub in a fatal attack.
The man said: “The fight went on for couple of minutes until the victim’s friend yelled for help and after a while an ambulance came.”
The evidence was part of the trial of two Emirati men at Dubai Court of First Instance yesterday. They are accused of assault leading to the death of the Moroccan victim. Both of the men are 23-years-old.
According to police reports, in April, the 22-year-old victim was with his friends in a nightclub in the Refaa area of Dubai. He was drunk and started harassing two Egyptian women who were out with the two defendants.
“We left the club and were waiting for a taxi when I heard my friend yelling for help. I saw the Moroccan man grabbing her hair and insulting her,” one of the women, who is 22, said.
“One of the defendants tried to calm the situation down but man was drunk. “One of the defendants punched the victim and fought with him.”
Refaa police station received a call about trouble in front of the nightclub.
An officer said: “The victim was transferred to hospital but he died on the way.”
A medical report by Rashid Hospital (pictured) showed the man died from a blow to the head that caused internal bleeding. The two defendants have pleaded not guilty.
