Italian job back on for Beckham

David Beckham looks set to star once again at the San Siro after AC Milan chief Adriano Galliani claimed his side are on the verge of landing the England man on another loan deal.

Beckham spent the second half of last year at Milan before returning to LA Galaxy at the end of the Serie A season.

But Becks is known to be looking for another high-profile loan deal to boost his chances of making the England World Cup squad. And Galliani said: “It’s very probable that Beckham will come to Milan on loan until June 30 but I won’t give any details while nothing has been signed.”

Beckham’s previous stint at Milan was highly successful as he scored twice in 18 league matches, although he could not inspire the seven-time European champions to the Serie A title as they finished third, ten points behind champions Inter Milan.

Emile Heskey is ready to quit Aston Villa in a bid to help his chance of making the England’s World Cup squad.

The striker has established himself as the first-choice partner for Wayne Rooney in the England attack, but is well aware that Fabio Capello wants all the players he takes to South Africa to be starting regularly for their clubs.

Heskey, signed from Wigan for $7million at the start of the year, has started just one Premier League match this season with Villa boss Martin O’Neill preferring Norway’s John Carew alongside Gabriel Agbonlahor. And Heskey said: “I’m happy to be playing for England and, obviously, not playing at club level is difficult,” Heskey said.

“It’s something I will have to look at when I get back and try to address it.”

Cristiano Ronaldo's ankle injury will not just hamper Portugal’s bid to reach the World Cup after it was revealed the $141million man will be out for up to four weeks.

Ronaldo limped off after just 27 minutes of Portugal’s qualifier against Hungary on Saturday meaning he’ll miss tomorrow’s must-win clash against Malta.

However, Real Madrid’s bid to win the La Liga title could also be ruined by the news the injury will keep Ronaldo out for the next month.

Ronaldo missed Real’s 2-1 defeat away to Sevilla last week because of the injury.
