Back to National News listThe United Arab Emirates’ first female commercial pilot has been appointed as a Permanent Representative of the UAE on The Council of The International Civil Aviation Organisation.
The Canada-based aviation council, a major agency of the United Nations, oversees international air navigation.
Aside from being the first Emirati and woman to be nominated to the role, Captain Aysha Al Hamili is also the first lady and the youngest representative on the ICAO Council.
“Aysha brings the necessary skills required to successfully push forward the UAE’s role on the regulatory and decision-making side of the global aviation platform,” said Saif Mohammed al Suwaidi, the director general of the UAE’ s General Civil Aviation Authority.
