Dubai Government’s critical intervention into the financial backlog of the emirate’s economic drivers is a clear signal that Dubai means business.

By this, besides the mis-picked media stories that Dubai is being treated with, the emirate clearly showcases its intent while cementing its credibility in corporate governance and transparency.

This is god-sent scenario for upright media professionals to wash away their flaws as well; what they missed a couple of months ago to defend Dubai from the passionate sorties by some western media can be honourably equalled off in terms of Dubai’s integrity, political will and astute leadership.

Will the big labels of international public relations and corporate communication companies, prospering in this part of the world, come forward and seize this opportunity to restore the rightful dignity of Dubai and the UAE; or will they be sophisticated armchair consultants continue selling platitudes?

This will be the time to prove, and reinvent, for the architects of opinion, image and reputation - for their very own sustenance and moral standing.

By the way Reuben - Dubai used the press to the max to publicise itself all over the world now you are telling them to shut up because you dont like what they are saying. Life is a two way street and you reap what you sow. Too much publicity kills too.

Im sorry but I really don't know what you are talking about! - 68billion US - call for delay in repayment - fact!. Also fact that the rest of the world ie UK and US has made huge mistakes and has been slammed for doing so, Dubai is no different in getting bad press because of this. I agree with moving on though and upwards as this will be good for Dubai in the long run as it will I hope cement a further union with AD ref assistance. I know where I would rather be and that is here helping in the recovery!

By the way MonkeyAllen - do you remember not long ago your comment about banks using police to issue warrant for people who defaulted payments to developers - wonder what now. Ha ha ha - what a mess.

I do AA and I have made that point! I hope for the record this can all be sorted out and for the record I wish Dubai well and a speedy recovery. This little emirate has captivated the imagination of so many and it is to be applauded, even the cash strapped Nakheel has created a master piece being the palm! I wish them well!
