A chef allegedly killed his girlfriend by smashing a rock over her head and setting fire to her when she told him she was pregnant.
Abu Dhabi Police said the alleged killer became angry because he claimed he could not have fathered the child as they had not had a full sexual relationship.
Police said yesterday they had arrested the 39-year-old Asian chef for the murder, which was committed on December 24.
Major Joma Al-Kaabi from Abu Dhabi Police said they were called following the fire in the 35-year-old Asian maid’s room.
“There were signs of assault to her head. We believe her killer set fire to her to erase the evidence,” he said.
Following a tip-off police arrested the chef. “The suspect confessed to the crime and said he killed her. He said they had enjoyed a romantic relationship for ten days,” Major Joma said.
The alleged murderer worked for an Emirati family next door to where the maid was living.
“He claimed that he met the housemaid while she was throwing rubbish out.
Their relationship developed and they began dating. She had allowed him in her room when her employer was out,” Major Joma Al-Kaabi added.
Police said the chef told officers that a dispute broke out between them when she told him she had become pregnant by him.
“He said that he was suspicious because they didn’t have a full sexual affair. He said that she kept insisting so he smashed her head with a rock which knocked her on to her bed,” he said.
Police said he then covered her body in tissues and set fire to it.
He will now be referred to Public Prosecution.

Horrific crimes happening one after another. Scary to know that there are so many people we work with, pray with, live right next door with o simply meet on the streets have the tendency to commit such acts. I hope that the government one day makes it mandatory for all residents of Dubai take psychological exams when they renew their visas, and something similar for locals as well.

So many cases happening so soon, either the crime rate has increased in UAE of lately or else, everything was happening right under our noses and we were too busy or ignorant to notice, or that media did not publish much to keep us from getting scared and terrified, whatever the reason, killing someone has become as simple as buying a mobile these days, you just kill because you want something exciting in your life, life is like a gizmo in the hands of a freak who will either make it or smash it as per his will.

What is causing this - ignorance, lack of values in society they come from - what. Yesterday we read something similar done to another woman. Dear UAE Law - please nip this madness in the bud and set an example of these criminals and let them know that such crimes will not be tolerated in UAE.
