Back to National News listLess than half of primary schools in developing countries have access to safe drinking water, a new campaign has highlighted.
The ‘Call to Action for WASH in Schools’ campaign was launched at the seventh Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition (DIHAD) 2010 yesterday.
The launch was hosted by Dubai Cares.
According to a survey conducted by UNICEF in select developing countries, less than 50 per cent of primary schools have access to safe drinking water and just over a third have adequate sanitation.
The campaign, run by UNICEF and its partners, aims to provide safe drinking water, improve sanitation facilities and promote lifelong health for children in schools.
