Fernando feels fine after 'win'

Fernando Alonso

Fernando Alonso remains unrepentant about the Ferrari farce at last week’s German Grand Prix.

The Spaniard was gifted the win at Hockenheim thanks to the Maranello men ordering team-mate Felipe Massa to let him through and take the chequered flag.

Ferarri were fined $100,000 for their crime, which breached the rules, but Alonso isn’t sorry. “All wins are special,” he said. “Winning is a great feeling and that was the case in Hockenheim, especially when I think of the huge workload undertaken by everyone at Maranello to achieve this fantastic one-two finish.

“No one ever gave up and I know how pleased they were to see two Ferraris cross the line ahead of all our rivals.
“For over a month we have been saying that we had to get back to winning at least once before the summer break and finally, we did it.

“At last in Germany, we had a normal race on a weekend when we had no problems whatsoever and the result was there for all to see.”

While Alonso looked back, glossing over his fortunate break, Massa is intent on looking forward.

Having worked so hard to get his Ferarri into the lead at Hockenheim, only to have victory snatched from his grasp, he’s confident he can show his speed once again at this weekend’s Hungary GP.

However, the race will be significant for the Brazilian for other reasons. His crash during qualifying for the 2009 race left him so seriously injured he was ruled out of racing for the rest of the season. And he said: “Going back to Budapest will be very special. My first meeting when I arrive at the Hungaroring will be with all the marshals and medical staff who did such a very good job of carefully getting me out of the cockpit.”
